Gun Safety

The NRA recommends the following guideline to handling firearms:

  1. The primary rule of gun safety is to always point the firearm in a safe direction so that if it discharged unexpectedly it would not injure anyone or cause damage.
  2. Do not touch the trigger of a gun until you are ready to fire. Rest your finger on the side of the gun or the trigger guard.
  3. Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it. When holding a firearm engage the safety device immediately if available and remove the magazine before opening the action and examining the chamber(s). Seek assistance from someone who is familiar with gun safety whenever you are unsure.
