The hospital offers a Lamaze childbirth education class each month. Classes usually begin the first week of every month, and run one night a week for four weeks. Each class lasts 2 1/2 hours. Each class is taught by one of our many certified educators and can include up to nine couples. There is a $100 fee for the series of classes. This fee is payable at the time of registration and covers both the pregnant mother and her support person.
A schedule of class dates and times may be obtained by contacting the Family Resource Center at (661)726-6216. We suggest that early in your pregnancy you make reservations for the series you wish to attend, as they tend to fill rapidly. The class you take should begin in your seventh month and end two to three weeks before your due date.
Reservations can be made over the phone by calling the Antelope Valley Hospital Family Resource Center at 726-6216. When registering by phone, a confirmation letter, questionnaire and a return envelope will be mailed to you. Payment is due two weeks prior to the beginning of class, so please keep track of the dates. You may wish to bring your payment directly to the cashier. In that event, please pay at the Cashier's Window located on the first floor of the hospital. Cash, check or money order will be accepted. You may register 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the number provided.
