Calling for Information: The Family Spokesperson

CCU and PCU patients often have many friends and family members concerned with their progress and well being, so it is only natural that they may want to call the units for regular updates. However, strictly enforced patient confidentiality laws do not allow nurses to report medical details over the phone. Therefore, families are strongly encouraged to designate one family spokesperson. This person may be given a special password that allows him or her to receive information over the telephone. Then, the spokesperson may communicate any developments to others.

The units will take phone calls from designated spokespersons at any time except for 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. which is during nurse shift change. To obtain information, please call (661) 949-5000 and ask for the critical care or progressive care unit.
