SART Training

The Antelope Valley Hospital SART Center presents a 24-hour course for Pediatric Sexual Assault Examiners. Participants for the examiner component of the training must be Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, or Physicians Assistants. The course will be held December 8th-10th, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in conference room 203 of the AVOIC Building located at 44105 N. 15th Street West (at West J-5), Lancaster, CA 93534.

This course is designed for individuals who are interested in developing their skills as interdisciplinary team members for victims of sexual assault. The course teaches the assessment, documentation, photography, and collection of evidence from the pediatric patient. The examiner will also follow prescribed protocols for sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy prevention, referrals, and follow-up care. In addition, the examiner will be apprised of other team members’ roles, including law enforcement, the district attorney, crime lab, and victims’ advocates.

Tuition: The tuition is free for Antelope Valley Hospital Employees. Tuition for outside participants is $350.00. Fees are due upon registration. 24 CEU’s are included.
