AVMC Infectious Disease Precautionary Measures

AV Hospital is working closely with our Infectious Disease, Los Angeles County Public Health and Centers for Disease Control on preparedness and monitoring of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our campus. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and employees. The Administration is working diligently toward that effort. The situation continues to evolve very quickly. The Administration Team will communicate new and pertinent information as it’s received.

The first possible confirmed case of a community-acquired case of COVID-19 in California is in Sacramento County. The CDC still considers the risk of transmission to be low. AVMC along with all other hospitals will continue to follow the guidance issued by CDPH and the CDC. We are monitoring and ensuring that any employee who may come into contact with a potentially infected individual utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all recommended infection control protocols (proper donning and doffing, hand hygiene, proper sanitation or disposal of diagnostic equipment, etc.).

We have been working with our medical staff under the direction of LA County Public Health. They are dictating clear policies and procedures as it pertains to any patient under suspicion or investigation. We have lead medical staff that are working collaboratively with any physician suspecting a patient to be of risk. This is being led by Dr. Truong, Dr. Panoussi, and Dr. Shankar.

We are committed to safety and protection of our staff and community. We are diligently looking at our processes as the requirements and recommendations change. This includes testing our capabilities if the pandemic should continue to spread. We have set up our tent in preparedness to receive an influx of patients, or to provide the separation of patients if needed. These proactive measures ensure we are fully prepared to support both our staff and community.

We also want to address any concerns the staff may have. The Executive Team and Department Heads will be holding immediate meetings to disseminate this information and to address any questions or concerns.

As stated previously, the requirements and recommendations for COVID-19 continue to change and we will do our best to communicate any changes quickly. At this point, AVMC has no confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
