AVH offers advanced treatments for commonly encountered and complex heart conditions. Patients receive exceptional care from our cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nurses and technologists. They come from world‑renowned institutions, are specially trained, and have extensive experience in all aspects of cardiovascular care.

We treat a full range of health conditions including:

  • Coronary artery disease
  • Peripheral artery disease (including aneurysms)
  • Valvular heart disease
  • Heart failure
  • Heart rhythm problems
  • Trauma

 Accredited Chest Pain Center

As and Accredited Chest Pain Center, we use a systematic approach to diagnose and treat cardiac patients which reduces time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. Using standardized diagnostic and treatment programs, AVH provides more efficient and effective evaluation as well as more appropriate and rapid treatment of patients with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms. Such monitoring ensures patients are neither sent home too early nor needlessly admitted.

The experts at the Institute for Heart & Vascular Care utilize noninvasive and invasive technology to ensure that each patient is given a thorough assessment of their condition and access to the most appropriate treatment. The IHVC features two cardiac catheterization laboratories (cath labs), which provide high-resolution images of the heart and vascular system. This allows for rapid diagnoses of patients with cardiac arrhythmia, coronary, valvular and other heart disease. Our advanced cardiovascular diagnostic procedures include:

  • Echocardiography
  • Stress Testing
  • Cardiac Nuclear Testing
  • Vascular Ultrasound
  • Computed Tomography and Angiography
  • Cardiac and Peripheral angiography
  • Electrophysiology Studies

Treatment of Heart and Vascular Conditions

New technologies offer many noninvasive and minimally invasive options to treat most heart and vascular conditions. At the IHVC we strive to use the least invasive therapeutic option possible, which allows our patients to reduce recovery time and get back to their normal activities as quickly as possible. We perform a range of therapeutic procedures, including:

  • Angioplasty
  • Coronary and Peripheral Artery Stenting
  • Atherectomy
  • Structural Heart Disease Management
  • Pacemaker -- traditional and leadless devices
  • Implantable Defibrillator
  • Vascular Access for Hemodialysis
  • Vascular Trauma Intervention
  • Thrombolysis
  • Porta catheter insertion
  • Fistulograms
  • Cardiac arrhythmia ablations
  • Abdominal and thoracic endovascular stenting carotid stentings

With decades of clinical experience, our surgeons are leaders in the surgical treatment of most types of diseases of the chest, including heart, lung and esophagus, valve disorders, coronary artery disease, aneurysms, heart failure and congenital heart defects. They use the most advanced medical equipment and latest surgical techniques, including minimally invasive surgery, to achieve the best possible outcomes. Among the heart and vascular surgeries performed at AVH are:

  • Heart Valve Repair and Replacement
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
  • Arrhythmia Surgery
  • Aneurysm Repair
  • Carotid Endarterectomy

 STEMI Receiving Center

AVH is a ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center. Certified by Los Angeles County, this means that AVH has the training, equipment and processes in place to immediately treat patients experiencing an acute cardiac myocardial infarction (heart attack). This results in an earlier definitive diagnosis and treatment resulting in improved outcomes.

Requirements to qualify as a STEMI center include having an Emergency Department, a cardiac cath lab, cardiologists on staff, and a cardiovascular surgeon and medical team available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We are well equipped to provide immediate care to acute cardiac patients in the Antelope Valley and neighboring areas.
