Antelope Valley Medical Center will supply the COVID vaccine to a mass vaccination site in Lancaster.

Lancaster, CA, April 13, 2021 – Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the City of Lancaster and High Desert Medical Group to supply an Antelope Valley vaccination site with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is the only vaccine approved for people ages 16 and older---this population will be eligible for vaccination this Thursday April 15th.

“We (AVMC) provided teachers with an opportunity to get vaccinated, now it’s our youth’s turn,” says Edward Mirzabegian, CEO of Antelope Valley Medical Center. “With an anticipated return to in-person classrooms, we feel incredibly fortunate that the hospital is in a position to provide the vaccine to our community. We encourage everyone to sign-up and get it done.”

The vaccination site is located at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in the Van Dam building, 2551 West Avenue H, Lancaster, CA 93536, and will be available on Thursday April 15th and Friday April 16th, between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm both days---Antelope Valley Medical Center staff will be onsite providing the Pfizer vaccine.

The vaccine will be administered as a 2-dose series, 3 weeks apart. Now that the eligibility requirements allow those 16 years of age and older receive the vaccine, AVMC is doing our part to ensure younger AV residents have access to the vaccine. Everyone is welcome to make an appointment, especially those that are at a higher risk of exposure. Appointments are recommended to maintain organization, avoid large groups and to maintain social distancing.

“COVID-19 has already caused the deaths of more than 550,000 Americans. The only way we can fight this disease is by getting as many people vaccinated as possible, in addition to masking and social distancing. More than 179 million doses of the vaccines have been administered in the US. These vaccines are very effective at preventing COVID-19 infection,” said Rana Shenoy, M.D., Director of Infection Control for Antelope Valley Medical Center.

Appointments for the Pfizer vaccination clinic at the AV Fairgrounds on April 15th & 16th can be made at the LA County MyTurn site: https://myturn.ca.gov/. If you are 16 & 17 years old, and would like to make an appointment, please call (661) 723-5865.
