This free “ladies night out” will take place Oct. 24 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Renaissance Imaging Center, 38925 Trade Center Drive, Palmdale.

While enjoying live music and refreshments, attendees will be treated to survivor stories, physician-led discussions, chair massages, nail polish changes, “office” yoga, raffle prizes and more. The first 50 attendees will receive a free swag bag. Discounted mammograms will be available for $50 by appointment only. Space is limited. RSVP by Oct. 18 by calling 661-949-5290 or emailing marketing@AVMC.org.

Each year 330,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Mammograms, or an x-ray of the breast, are considered one of the most important screening tests for breast cancer. Studies suggest mammograms can reduce the risk of dying from breast cancer by as much as 40 percent.

“When I received a breast cancer diagnosis, I was at first distraught, but I quickly geared up for the fight,” said Patricia Karnstedt, cancer program coordinator for the hospital. “We want to give women the tools for prevention and the resilience to fight this deadly disease.”

As a nationally-recognized Comprehensive Community Cancer Center, Antelope Valley Medical Center provides complete and personalized cancer care—from screening to diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. The medical center is dedicated to guiding and supporting each patient and their family through the entire process. Patients receive comprehensive care, focusing on prevention, screening, early detection, cancer staging, a full complement of chemotherapy protocols, radiation oncology services, surgery and hormone therapy. The hospital also offers rehabilitation, life long follow up for recurrent disease and end of life care. Patients have access to information on clinical trials and new treatments, genetic counseling, psycho social support, a patient navigator and a survivorship care plan.
