Community Education: Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC)

Accredited Chest Pain Center

Accredited by the American College of Cardiology, Antelope Valley Medical Center's Chest Pain Center, uses a systematic approach to diagnose and treat cardiac patients to reduce the time of treatment in the critical early stages of a heart attack. Using standardized diagnostic and treatment programs, our hospital provides more efficient, effective evaluations and more appropriate and rapid treatment of patients with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms. Such monitoring ensures patients are neither sent home too early nor needlessly admitted.

STEMI Receiving Center

AVMC is a ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center certified by Los Angeles County. This means our hospital staff has the training, equipment, and processes in place to immediately treat patients experiencing an acute cardiac myocardial infarction, or a heart attack. This results in an earlier definitive diagnosis and treatment, resulting in improved outcomes.

Requirements to qualify as a STEMI center include having an Emergency Department, a cardiac cath lab, cardiologists on staff, and a cardiovascular surgeon and medical team available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
