A breast cancer screening and educational event & a special check presentation from Macys

(Lancaster, CA – October 4, 2022) – Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) and the Antelope Valley Outpatient Imaging Center (AVOIC) are hosting a Power in Pink breast cancer screening & educational event on Wednesday October 5, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at AVOIC, 44105 15th Street West, Suite 100, Lancaster CA 93534.

AVMC and AVOIC have teamed up for the second year with City of Hope, Kaiser Permanente, the American Cancer Society, High Desert Medical Group, Antelope Valley Cancer Center, Antelope Valley Partners for Health, and Bartz-Altadonna Community Health Center in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month to promote breast screenings and education to Antelope Valley women.

While enjoying live music and refreshments, attendees will be encouraged by survivor stories, educated by physician-led discussions, and treated to chair massages, nail polish changes, seated yoga demonstrations, raffle prizes and more. The first 100 attendees will receive a free swag bag. In addition, discounted mammograms will be available for $50 by appointment only.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. However, by finding breast cancer early, it can reduce the risk of death by 30% or more. Mammograms are the gold standard in breast screenings and are recommended to be performed annually. For these reasons, Antelope Valley Medical Center has partnered with Macys, AVOIC, and the Antelope Mall to bring breast care resources and information needed to help improve those odds. With additional support provided by a Macy’s grant, AVOIC will be able to provide free mammograms for financially disadvantaged* women.

“We are honored by the collaborative efforts of the AV medical community that has joined us for the 2nd year in organizing this event,” said Edward Mirzabegian, AVMC Chief Executive Officer. “We also thank Macys for their partnership and community involvement in bringing health equity to breast care.”
