The redesignation was granted for a three-year period.

(LANCASTER, Calif., March 20, 2023) — Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) announces it has received a 3-year agreement for its Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) redesignation by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency.

Antelope Valley Medical Center is the only hospital in the area to be approved by the County of Los Angeles for this type of designation. Having an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP), means AVMC is ready to treat infants, children, and adolescents with serious illnesses or injuries at any time. The nursing and physician team are trained in pediatric emergency medicine, and have access to equipment specifically designed for children. Antelope Valley Medical Center’s Pediatric Unit is also certified by California Children’s Services.

“AVMC is committed to providing Antelope Valley families with a full range of health care services, including those for children. Having the best, local pediatric medical care gives parents peace of mind that they don’t have to travel 50 miles out in cases of an emergency,” says Edward Mirzabegian, Chief Executive Officer, Antelope Valley Medical Center.
